What cookies we use, and where
Which cookies you get depends on which of our sites you are on, so the two are listed separately below. Google Analytics runs on the public site only, and there it only loads if you accept it. If you decline, it does not run at all. The live-chat widget is different: it loads on every page, whatever you choose, so you can always reach support. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share what we collect.
Your dashboard at dashboard.crawlfox.io sets the cookie that keeps you signed in, the record of your answer to the question above, and the live-chat cookie. There is no analytics there, which is why you are not asked about cookies on the dashboard.

localStorage
We store one entry in your browser's localStorage. The Crisp chat widget stores its own entries there too, under keys beginning crisp-client, for the same reason its cookie exists — so an open conversation survives a page change.
Your cookie answer used to be kept here as well, under crawlfox.cookieConsent. It is now the cookie listed above, because localStorage is readable only by the exact site that wrote it — so an answer given on crawlfox.io was invisible to your dashboard, and you were asked twice. If that entry is still in your browser we read it once, carry the answer over, and remove it.

Third-party scripts
Sign-in and sessions are handled by our own servers, so the session cookie is set by us and by nobody else. We load two third-party scripts. Google Analytics loads only on the public site, and only after you accept. The Crisp chat widget loads on every page, including your account, so you can reach support without leaving it; it sets the functional cookie listed above. We embed no advertising scripts and set no advertising cookies.
To opt out of Google Analytics entirely, install Google's opt-out browser add-on, or block the cookies above in your browser settings.
Your choice
The first time you visit the public site we ask whether the analytics cookies are allowed. If you decline, Google Analytics never loads, so its cookies are never set. Declining is a recorded answer, not a dismissal that comes back on the next page. Live chat is not part of that choice and loads either way. The session cookie is not part of that choice: it is what keeps you signed in, and there is no version of the product that works without it.
You can change that answer at any time, right here. Signed-in customers will find the same control in account settings on the dashboard, because the banner is not shown there and a choice you cannot revisit is not a choice.
Your cookie choice
Declining stops Google Analytics from loading, so it sets no new cookies. It cannot delete cookies it already stored. To remove those, clear this site's cookies in your browser. Live chat loads on every page whatever you choose.
Managing cookies
You can delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Deleting the session cookie will sign you out. All modern browsers provide per-site cookie controls in their privacy or security settings panel.
